I was first introduced to yoga in my early twenties, when I joined a weekly Iyengar yoga class. But it wasn't until I became Cabin Crew , a few years later, when I flew on long-haul flights around the world that I began using the poses, breathing and relaxation techniques to help ease away tensions. I found that wherever I was in the world I could do yoga, whether that was during breaks on a mid-Atlantic flight or in a Japanese hotel room. It gave me a sense of stability, kept me calm, helped me sleep and fully appreciate each moment.
After completing a Foundation Course in Yoga I went on to gain the 500 hour British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training Diploma; the highest level of Yoga teacher training currently available in the UK. I went on to train as a children's yoga teacher and teen Yoga Teacher. This complemented my role as a Primary School teacher.
I love to learn as much as teach and I continue to develop my knowledge each year: I have completed the 8-week Mindfulness for Life Cognitive Therapy course at the Oxford Centre for Mindfulness and have attended their workshops on becoming trauma-sensitive (making mindfulness and meditation safe for trauma survivors). I have recently started training in Yoga Therapy (50hrs) and am continuing to train as a Yoga therapist over the next couple of years.
My personal passion is to help others find a greater sense of balance and well-being in their lives.
